ABOUT MK APOTHECARY

We believe creative expression is what brings communities together and fosters innovation. We are trained artists who have studied, practiced and made careers in the art & design world. Michael & Kristine found a place where they could do what they love and share it with the world. A one hundred year old pharmacy they turned into a gallery. The dream has always been to live and work in an art space and have others enjoy and cultivate creative expression.

MK Apothecary is an art gallery that connects artists with art buyers by exhibiting contemporary artists at art fairs, online and in physical art gallery settings. Our goal is to give artists a platform to showcase their work and for buyers to feel good about buying original artwork. The gallery is run by artists who believe that art and design are essential parts of our lives. MK Apothecary is focused on selling and exhibiting artwork of various styles and mediums to provide a diverse experience for all. The gallery opened May 2019 in Collingswood, NJ.

MK Apothecary relocated to Florida in 2024. Currently Exhibiting at Palm Beach Art, Antique & Design Showroom 500 N Dixie Hwy, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33460.

Apothecary apothēkē “storehouse”

The etymology of the word ‘apothecary’ is from from Late Latin apothecarius "storekeeper," from Latin apotheca "storehouse," from Greek apothēkē "barn, storehouse," literally "a place where things are put away," from apo "away" (see apo-) + thēkē "receptacle" (from a suffixed form of PIE root *dhe- "to set, put"). The same Latin word produced French boutique, Spanish bodega, German Apotheke. Cognate compounds produced Sanskrit apadha- "concealment," Old Persian apadana- "palace."

This made sense to us since we took an old-time pharmacy and turned into a “storehouse” for art.
