A 2 hour online workshop for visual artists to write a concise artist statement that captures your overall vision as an artist, led by Kristine Go.
As artists, we are asked to write a statement for shows, galleries, grants, branding, marketing, social media etc. The artist statement is meant to help people understand our work and who we are as artists. Yet, as visual artists we believe our work needs to stand on its own. This workshop will offer tools that can make your artist statement more inspiring for yourself and to those who read it.
Sometimes, our artist statements can get wordy, a bit esoteric, too intellectual or about another artists work rather than our own. Sometimes, the artist statement is something we avoid completely and just list of interesting facts of where we have shown our work, who has written about us or only about the techniques we use to make our work. Sometimes, we write artist statements that actually don’t say anything about our work. This workshop will help to break down your inspiration, thoughts and ideas into the 3 paragraphs we are asked to write while being authentic, clear, concise and aligned with our artistic vision. Fee for the workshop is $25. The workshop will be on Zoom, link will be emailed after you sign up. Space is limited.
